On Friday, September 15, 2006 the employees of Burr, Pilger, & Mayer left their desks at the firm's four Bay Area offices and volunteered for a full day of hard work at five charitable or non-profit locations. This is the tenth year the company has done this annual day of community service and it has become known as "BPM Day." This year the BPM staff helped facilitate the American Heart Association's HeartWalk in downtown San Francisco; did habitat restoration and clean-up at the Taylor Foundation's Camp Arroyo in Livermore and the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga; helped with maintenance and gardening at Angel Island's former hospital and museum, and did trail clearing and landscaping at Muir Woods. Stephen D. Mayer, BPM's managing partner said, "In 1996, we created a staff community volunteer program and everyone in the whole company eAE from the managing partner to the receptionist eAE joins in." Adding, "Not only do we do a lot of much needed work in our communities, but 'BPM Day' also doubles as a fun team building exercise and gives all levels of staff a chance to take a leadership role."
