Burmatex focuses on carpeting.Contract carpeting is the specialty at Burmatex, Ossett, U.K., which has been in the carpet business for more than 25 years. The company, which manufactures both needlepunched and tufted carpets and carpet tiles, has a broad product line that includes velours, sport carpets, entrance carpets where effective dirt barriers are needed, academic institution carpets and high end office carpeting. Needlepunched carpets make up 80% of production. The company had its roots in textile waste processing, from which it diversified diversified (di·verˑ·s in the 1960's, making carpet production the core business. Burmatex is a member of the Sirdar Group. The bulk of the company's business is sold into the British market, but it has in recent years been working on increasing its export business.
