Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF). (Company News).
The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF) and
Ferrocarril Mexicano (Ferromex) announced they have improved their
transborder service by significantly reducing transit times between
major U.S. and Canadian markets and Mexico. The improved service is an
attempt to increase competition with road-shipping companies. The new
transportation network now extends from Guadalajara and Mexico City to
major North American markets--including all of California, Chicago,
Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City and large Canadian cities.
Richard Miller, assistant vice president of the Mexican branch of BNSF
said in published remarks, "The new service offers seven- or
eight-day transit time between Los Angeles or Chicago to and from Mexico
City and Guadalajara. This matches transit times offered by
over-the-road service providers today."
