Burley's Dutch of luck as Ed retires - again; ROAD TO SOUTH AFRICA 2010...


SCOTLAND were last night handed a World Cup boost - by veteran Holland keeper Edwin van der Sar Edwin van der Sar (born 29 October 1970 in Voorhout) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. He is captain of the Dutch national team and plays club football for Manchester United in the English Premier League. .

The Dutchman says he has no intention of extending his Oranje return to next year's clash with George Burley's men.

The 37-year-old has come out of international retirement for the Group 9 double-header with Iceland and Norway due to an injury crisis.

But Van der Sar, who has been capped 128 times already, has no plans to face the Scots in Holland on March 28.

Ahead of tomorrow's visit of Iceland, he said: "I was surprised. I had not expected to be back, although I did not want to desert the team.

"But that does not mean I will do the same again next time. Two matches and that's it. After Norway it really is over."
