The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Gary Couey of Clinton. He is the grandson of Mrs. Jessie Holt Melton of Long Beach and the late Mr. Melton, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ezel Couey of Rosedale.

The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. Jon Doler. Musicians were Mrs. E.P. Tolbert, organist; Mrs. Beverly Terrell, pianist; and Dr. Pat Burke

Mrs. Roy Meeks designed floral arrangements of roses, lilies, gladiola, chrysanthemums, alstoemeria, and snapdragons throughout the ceremony and reception. Mrs. Mary Ann Tribble provided catering, and musical entertainment was provided by Bruce Brewer and Friends.
