Burglary warning.

RESIDENTS are being urged to be extra vigilant against burglaries as darker nights draw in.

Now that the clocks have gone back and it is getting darker much earlier in the afternoon, police are urging residents to ensure homes are safe and secure at all times and take steps to ensure lights are on at appropriate times of the day. Sandra Killeen, crime prevention officer for Northumberland Area Command, said: "If out all day, people should time lights to come on earlier in the afternoon."
