Burglars steal pregnant Lorna's motor; ...then drive it at chasing husband.

BURGLARS stole a heavilypregnant woman's car - and then drove at her husband as he chased the thieves in his underpants.

The raiders stole hairdresser Lorna Pearson's Ford Focus after breaking into their Elland house and snatching the keys from her handbag at around 4am on Thursday.

Lorna, who is due to give birth in four weeks, and her husband John were awoken a·wok·en

The couple got out of bed to find raiders in their house.

The raiders had climbed the stairs to the first floor having broken in by smashing locks on the back door.

John, who is an electrician at Genco Electrical Projects, Huddersfield, got out of bed and chased the thieves down the street in his underpants.

Lorna, 30, who runs Lorna Stewart Hair, Elland, has been left badly shaken by the raid.

Mrs Pearson said: "It was horrible. I've spent all today crying.

I had to have yesterday off work and I've been a wreck.

"I don't feel safe in my own house. I couldn't sleep all last night and I've got my own business to run.

"I'm due to give birth in four weeks and I'm gutted I haven't got a car take my new baby out of the hospital.

"They've obviously watched and planned it.

"I had to go to hospital yesterday to check myself out. I was worried the stress would make me go into labour early."

. The getaway car is another Ford Focus, with the registration starting YG08. There were three raiders, one of which was about 5ft 6in and wearing a dark blue top, gloves and blue jeans.
