Burglars' handicap.A FORMER jockey helped cops catch two thieves by chasing one of the crooks on horseback on the back of a horse; mounted or riding on a horse or horses; in the saddle. See also: Horseback . Simon Sellars, 32, was out exercising his horse, Toby, when he saw police chasing a man suspected of stealing copper piping from a boarded-up pub. He cantered after the man and headed him off so the cops could wrestle him to the ground. The second burglar was found hiding in the pub's cellar. Simon said: "The guy looked a bit shocked when he saw me." Two men have been charged in connection with the incident at the Bedlington Terrier Bedlington terrier, breed of long-legged, lithe terrier developed in the eastern Border districts of England in the 19th cent. It stands about 16 in. (40.6 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs from 22 to 24 lb (9.9–10.8 kg). pub in Northumberland. |
