The promotion, which was slated to run for six weeks, began experiencing shortages in some markets as soon as one week into the promotion. The systemwide sellout occurred in less than 3 1/2 weeks.

The Burger King(R) TELETUBBIES(TM) promotion broke all first week sales record of kids meals and the promotion has continued to provide double digit increases in sales of kids meals.

While the company declined to divulge comparable store sales for the promotion, it did say TELETUBBIES(TM) had an extremely positive impact on both sales and traffic at its 8000 restaurants in the US and Canada.

"Kids don't come into restaurants by themselves; they bring their parents and brothers and sisters. As a result, average checks are in the $8-10 range for families with children at Burger King(R)," Taylor said.
