Burger King Corporation Provides Collector Sheets of Pokemon(TM) Trading Cards to Restaurants for Temporary Shortages.

MIAMI, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to satisfy the demand for Pokemon(TM) premiums, Burger King Corporation (BKC) today announced that it will be distributing to its restaurants full-size sheets of Pokemon(TM) trading cards to address temporary spot shortages of toys. The "Master Trainer Collector Set" of cards come on 20 different sheets, with nine cards to a sheet and will begin appearing this week at participating U.S. and Canadian BURGER KING(R) restaurants. While company officials stressed that toys are being delivered ahead of schedule to restaurants, the overwhelming demand for the property is straining supply. One Trading Card sheet will be included in each Kids Club meal, at participating restaurants that are awaiting their next Pokemon toy shipment.

"The excitement for Pokemon collectibles has been incredible," said Richard Taylor, vice president, USA Marketing for Burger King Corporation. "Our restaurants have been overwhelmed by the response to this promotion and we are doing everything within our power to keep our customers satisfied. These Trading Card sheets will please Pokemon fans everywhere when temporary shortages occur."

Each of the official BURGER KING(R) Pokemon Trading Card sheets will come with a numbered header indicating its number in the sequence of 20. The Trading Cards have been produced nine to a sheet (7.5"x 11.5"), with micro- perforated edges.

In addition to offering toys and cards, the national advertising for the Tuesday Pokemon(TM) trading nights began airing on November 19 to coincide with the start of Tuesday trading nights. Tuesday trading nights are planned for December 7, 14, 21, and 28. Children and their parents are invited to visit their local BURGER KING(R) restaurant during these nights to trade any of their Pokemon merchandise with other kids. The company is prohibiting customers and collectors from exchanging money for toys. All restaurants have been urged to run the trading nights no later than 8:30 p.m., since it is a school night.

"We expected Pokemon(TM) to be in demand; that's why we produced so many toys and created Tuesday trading nights. But demand has been so incredible it has exceeded even our most aggressive plans," Taylor said. "By developing these Pokemon Trading Card sheets, we will be offering something of value to Pokemon fans in between the shipments of toys that are already being distributed to restaurants that have been experiencing temporary toy shortages. Additionally, by hosting trading night dinners on Tuesdays, we're presenting another opportunity for our customers to get a particular toy or trading card they might not have gotten their hands on yet."
