BIR's deployment of Unicenter TNG will encompass end-to-end management of its entire IT environment, including heterogeneous databases, networks, systems and applications. Of utmost importance is administration of the Integrated Tax System (ITS) which integrates and manages 13 mission-critical application systems. "We needed an end-to-end management system to improve the performance of the four essential components of our enterprise across the Philippines," said Lilia C. Guillermo, Assistant Commissioner, BIR. "The magnitude of managing our entire computing infrastructure was becoming too difficult and time consuming. With Unicenter TNG, managing our enterprise has never been easier." In selecting Unicenter TNG to manage its burgeoning IT infrastructure, BIR rejected individual point products that would have consumed extensive programming resources for integration and maintenance. The BIR has four major interconnected sites across the Philippines: the National Revenue Command Centre and three data centres. Located within the four centres are 18 Sun Solaris enterprise systems and about 600 Intel-based NT workstations. Unicenter TNG will manage all the application servers at these command/data centres. "Enterprise management has become more and more essential over the years," added Tan Kia Kok, CA divisional senior vice-president. "As the enterprise becomes more distributed with networks across different locations, organizations are increasingly turning to Unicenter TNG to bring everything under control. We are proud to work with BIR to improve its efficiency and accuracy BIR expects to achieve full implementation of Unicenter TNG within six months. Key CA technical consultants will provide training and education to BIR staff.
