Bunge Limited, White Plains, N.Y., signs a memorandum of understanding with Hindustan Hindustan (hĭn'd stăn`) [Persian,=Hindu land], historical term, usually applied to the Ganges Plain of N India, between the Himalayas in the north and the Deccan plateau in the south. Lever to acquire the company's edible oils and fats businesses in Bangalore, India. Hindustan Lever is India's market leader in branded hydrogenated vegetable fats marketed under the brand name "Dalda" and in bakery fats marketed under the "Masterline" brands. The company's 2002 sales of edible oils and fats were approximately $79.9 million.
