Bunge Limited Response to Statements on Worker Safety.Business Editors WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 3, 2001 Recently, certain statements regarding the environmental and safety record of the Danville, Illinois AFL-CIO in full American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations U.S. and PACE International Union, which represent striking workers at the Danville facility. They are often initiated because of some external requirement, such as environmental compliance or other governmental designed to ensure that all of its facilities are maintained and operated safely and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Bunge has received several awards for safe operations at its facilities. In March of this year the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS GEAPS Grain Elevator And Processing Society (formerly Society of Grain Elevator Superintendents) ) recognized the safety performance of Bunge North America by awarding seven out of eight of GEAPS's first-ever "Long-Term Commitment" Awards for safety to Bunge. In addition, Bunge North America's safety record was highlighted in two current articles ("A Commitment to Safety," World Grain (June 2001); Milling and Baking News (July 17, 2001)).
