Bulls with wings.

Byline: Times

THEY may only have been fighting for a second place. But victory went instead to Mark WebberEoe1/4aos Red Bull team mate Sebastian Vettel Sebastian Vettel (born July 3 1987 in Heppenheim) is a German race car driver. He is currently contracted to the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula One team alongside Vitantonio Liuzzi after replacing Scott Speed on July 31 2007. , his fourth of an impressive season and it sent 50,000 race goers off into the desert night chattering excitedly about an event that for a long time looked like being a billion-dollar procession.

at Yas Marina, Times Sport caught up with Vettel and Webber who admitted that they had virtually no knowledge of the newly built paradise of Formula One. To that extent, both drivers have never previously visited the region but Red Bull team boss Christian Horner ]]

Eoe1/4EoHe keeps coming here because he is too rich to travel the whole world. Frankly both of us had no clue about this circuit and when we saw it with our eyes, my goodness we just got scared,Eoe1/4A[yen] said Vettel as Horner joined our discussion.

Eoe1/4EoThe Middle East needs something a driver of their own so that the fans can go crazy about, and thatEoe1/4aos not going to happen overnight, but I am sure it will happen eventually,Eoe1/4A[yen] Horner said.

Eoe1/4EoAs for what it entails from a driverEoe1/4aos point of view, the circuit might be an amazing a·maze

race but then again it might be a dull one to drive in. You just never know what it is going to be like until you turn up. We faced couple of problems but the end result was a podium finish and we are happy,Eoe1/4A[yen] said Webber.

The German leapfrogged into the lead after making his first pit stop two laps later than the McLaren driver and Hamilton was called into the pits to retire just a lap later. Eoe1/4EoThat was a bonus for us. I could no way match his abilities. He is a true champion, when he withdrew I got the shock of my life but it gave me the extra power and I pressed the button hard to reach the final lap There is also Final Lap (novel), a novel in the Traces series by Malcolm Rose.

,Eoe1/4A[yen] Vettel said.

The final race of 2009 could have been very different for Horner and his teamEoe1/4aos whole hopes were derailed earlier in the world championship; they arrived in Abu Dhabi having missed out on the constructorEoe1/4aos title while Webber and Vettel lost out on the driverEoe1/4aos title to Button.

Frustration

Horner admitted to a certain amount of frustration at some chances that have gone begging, but points to the previous season, when Red Bull struggled throughout to the extend that they finished behind Toro Toro may refer to:
  • Denominación de Origen Toro, the Spanish wine region
  • Toró, the nickname of Rafael Ferreira Francisco, Brazilian football (soccer) player
 Rosso.

Eoe1/4EoWell we would have had a Mercedes engine,Eoe1/4A[yen] Horner said reflecting on the power unit that has driven Brawn GP to the championship success.

Eoe1/4EoBut trust me we are happy with the Renault engines Engines used by French automaker Renault SA have historically been referenced in technical specifications along two distinct systems:
  • a purely numeric system used from the origins of the company until the mid-1980s
  • an alphanumeric system in use since then
. They have been supporting us like anything. And whenever we want they are here to assist us which reduces half of my tension,Eoe1/4A[yen] Horner said.

Webber was not so lucky during the start of 2009 season. He broke his leg in a head-on collision A head-on collision is one where the front ends of two ships, trains, planes or vehicles hit each other, as opposed to a side-collision or rear-end collision. Rail transport

with a car while out riding his bike in Australia last November. Even his career was under threat but following a tough training he made it into the team.

Eoe1/4EoMate, itEoe1/4aos a closed chapter. I do not want to open and talk about it. You just get what you deserve in life and you just have to adjust with it,Eoe1/4A[yen] Webber said.

But the fear for Webber, who is now 33, is that Vettel who is 12 years his junior may over take him soon. Eoe1/4EoI have shown this season that I can beat Vettel in a straight fight.

Eoe1/4EoThe next season will be even better as a team and things will be easier. I am flying to Australia this week to watch some cricket. I heard India is leading 2-0 in the One Day series. Punter (Ricky Ponting Ricky Thomas Ponting (born December 19 1974, in Launceston, Tasmania) is an Australian cricketer and current captain of the Australia national cricket team (for both One-Day International and Test cricket). ) has got plenty of work to do,Eoe1/4A[yen] he added.

But for Vettel, this season has been splendid.

Eoe1/4EoI have achieved what I worked for. To sum up this season on a positive note is something that we cherish.

Eoe1/4EoThere are many people who worked hard from behind Red Bull especially those at our factory. They deserve this victory,Eoe1/4A[yen] Vettel said.

Asked about his plans for the new season, Vettel had this to say: Eoe1/4EoWe canEoe1/4aot change yesterday but definitely we can change tomorrow. We did not finish five races and we have learned lessons from that. Sometimes it is just not your day and I am not here to blame anyone. It has been a stressful week and Horner just said we are going to have a party this month and I will be back in December to plan our strategies for next season,Eoe1/4A[yen] Vettel said.

Horner on the other hand has high hopes for the next season. Cost remains an issue over engine deal and Red Bull could switch to Mercedes engine.

Eoe1/4EoWe are thinking about changing the engine but nothing is official yet. Like I said we are stronger with Renault (engine) yet we might try out Mercedes,Eoe1/4A[yen] Horner added.
