Bullied pupil hit girl, 15, in face.


A SHERIFF yesterday showed mercy to a teenager who broke a girl's nose when he punched her after snapping following months of bullying.

Army cadet John Horsburgh, 16, claimed to have been tormented by classmates who punched and kicked him throughout the school term.

He had previously been praised by teachers at a secondary school in Angus, for not responding to the bullying.

But Horsburgh finally lost it when a 15-year-old girl wanted to use a computer that he was working on.

Forfar Sheriff Court heard yesterday that the girl had poked him on the shoulder. He stood up and punched her on the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

She later fainted in the sick bay and suffered a broken nose, whiplash whiplash n. a common neck and/or back injury suffered in automobile accidents (particularly from being hit from the rear) in which the head and/or upper back is snapped back and forth suddenly and violently by the impact.  and a hip injury.

Horsburgh had earlier admitted assaulting the girl on March 12.

, defending, said: "He has been the subject of very serious bullying. He has been punched and kicked and has even been stabbed at school.

"He had been praised by the school for not responding to the bullying."

But Sheriff Kevin Veal veal, flesh of a calf from two to three months old weighing usually less than 300 lb (135 kg). He gave Horsburgh a structured deferred sentence that will see him complete anger management courses.
