Everyone knows the platitude that a book shouldn't be judged by its cover. But this cover, with its misleading title, may merit an exception to that rule.

The title Bulletproofing TCP/IP-Based Windows NT/2000 Networks promises more than it can deliver, and the author admits as much in the preface. Networks, like real windows, can only be made blast-resistant, not bulletproof Refers to extremely stable hardware and/or software that cannot be brought down no matter what unusual conditions arise. See industrial strength.

, because the ideal defensive state is not achievable. The difference is crucial.

Nonetheless, the book does provide a decent overview of various threats and attacks that anyone running Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  or 2000 servers should recognize. Unfortunately, only 45 pages of the book deal with topics that are unique to NT and 2000. The rest of the book is generic. The lack of Windows-specific material makes this publication of limited value.
