Two new Escala models offering from 1- to 16-way multiprocessing capability and a choice of OS

Bull Infrastructure and Systems is announcing a full range of servers (from 1 to 16 processors), based on two model ranges: the Escala IL400R (4-way rackable server) and the Escala IL1600 (16-way server).

Bull will offer the Escala IL400R with a choice of three supported operating systems: 64-bit Linux(R), Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Whistler Server and AIX 5L(TM). The Escala IL400R server includes comprehensive reliability features such as hot-pluggable, redundant power supplies and fans.

The operating systems supported initially by the Escala IL1600R will be Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Whistler Server and AIX 5L(TM). The Escala IL1600R offers reliability and manageability features of enterprise systems, including hot-pluggable system and I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device.
