Building walls.I can't take it any longer! I wish to comment on Sillycon Jack's view of abortion in Latin America ["Silicon Jack." November 2005]. I do not know the statistics for availability of birth control for the differing nations, but I do have what I believe is a good understanding of the problems that Brazil has distributing oral birth-control pills. On a recent [Brazilian television] broadcast they showed a city of 3,000 people that had enough doses to distribute to 12 women for the entire year! If a country like Brazil cannot effectively pass out birth control birth control, practice of contraception for the purpose of limiting reproduction. Methods of Birth ControlMale birth control methods include withdrawal of the male before ejaculation (the oldest contraceptive technique) and use of the condom, a rubber sheath covering the penis. The condom, because of its use as a protection against sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS, has become a frequently used birth control device. pills, how does Sillycon believe that abortion (which I think costs a lot more than the pills) will remedy the situation? Get a grip Jack. It is your American air of superiority, that "our way is obviously the best way" attitude which builds walls, that I must cut through every time I speak with a Latino, which infuriates me. You do Americans who truly care for Latinos an injustice. Do me a favor Jack, go to France! LATIN TRADE does an excellent job reporting on Latin economies. Please find someone who would do justice for the social reporting as well. Rev. Dennis Nichols Auburn, Illinois |
