Building up confidence.An activity club for blind children is being launched in the region, helping youngsters build up their fitness and confidence. The Actionnaires club is being launched on Saturday at the Raich Carter Horatio Stratton "Raich" Carter (born February 21, 1913 in Hendon, Sunderland; died October 9, 1994 in Willerby, near Hull) was one of the greatest English footballers of the pre-war era. The club offers visually-impaired young people aged eight to16, and their sighted friends and siblings, a chance to take part in activities such as football, goalball, archery, and martial arts. The club will start with judo judo (j `dō), sport of Japanese origin that makes use of the principles of jujitsu, a weaponless system of self-defense. , ball sports and fitness room
activities and is open to all blind and partially-sighted young people
across the North East.
