Building sector staying out of the eye of the storm.


New home construction nationwide rebounded from the shock and devastation of hurricanes Katrina and Rita to maintain a vigorous pace in September, the U.S. Commerce Department reported last week.

Total housing starts increased 3.4% for the month to a seasonally adjusted Seasonally adjusted

Multifamily housing starts increased by 7.8% for the month to a seasonally adjusted pace of 361,000 units.

This was 1.1% above the pace of a year ago.
