Paley is Senior Development Director with the Mid/High Rise group of AvalonBay Communities, Inc., a Real Estate Investment Trust specializing in developing and managing institutional quality residential communities.

Paley's projects include Avalon Chrystie Place, a multi-phased, mixed-use development in Manhattan's East Village with 700 apartment homes, including 175 affordable apartments and 120,000 square feet of retail, and Avalon on the Sound, a 1,000 apartment home community in downtown New Rochelle, New York New Rochelle (French: Nouvelle-Rochelle) is a city in the southeast portion of the U.S. state of New York in Westchester County, 16 miles (26 km) from Grand Central Terminal in New York City and 2 miles north of the border with The Bronx. .

Prior to joining AvalonBay, Paley was Director of Real Estate Development at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority where he conceived and implemented transit-oriented real estate development projects including the 350,000 square foot Atlantic Terminal redevelopment in Brooklyn.
