Building Improvements Will Save Metropolitan Housing Authorities $1.1 Million Annually in Energy Costs; Vestar, Inc., Awarded Projects To Improve More Than 4040 Units.

), will soon begin energy-saving improvements at public housing units in Dayton, Middletown and Hamilton, Ohio Hamilton is a city in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 60,690 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Butler CountyGR6. 2005 estimates indicate a slight population increase to approximately 61,943. . The contracts total approximately $10.5 million and are expected to result in savings of more than $1.1 million annually in energy costs.

The project with the Dayton Metropolitan Housing Authority is slated for completion next May and will cover 41 sites. The $8.5 million contract will include boiler control improvements, high-efficiency furnace furnace, enclosed space for the burning of fuel. There are many kinds of furnaces, the type depending upon the fuel and the use to which the heat produced within it is put. Most familiar are the furnaces used in the heating of buildings.  replacement, new windows, domestic hot water improvements as well as water conservation solutions. The $2 million project with the Butler Metropolitan Housing Authority will include boiler control improvements, weather-stripping, lighting retrofits and water conservation solutions to 971 housing units in Middletown and Hamilton. Annual savings to the Housing Authority are expected to be more than $230,000.
