Buhler, USWA sign contract.
Buhler Industries Inc. and the United Steelworkers of America
(USWA) Local 7292 signed a new five-year labor contract on March 7,
2001. The USWA represents over 160 workers located in Buhler
Industries' Allied, Bradley Steel and Laser divisions, in Winnipeg,
MB, Canada.
"Unfortunately the agreement with the Steelworkers has no
affect on our continuing strike at the Versatile tractor plant,"
Craig Engel, president of Buhler Industries, told Implement &
Tractor. "We have nothing material to report about the strike. We
have begun producing a limited number of tractors without the unionized
work force, and will work hard at increasing this production as soon as
possible."
