The RAAM, considered by most as the toughest ultra cycling event in the World, will go from Oceanside, California Oceanside is the third largest city in San Diego County, California. The city has a population of 173,303. Together with Vista and Carlsbad, it makes up the Tri-City area. The city is just south of U.S.  to Annapolis, Maryland “Annapolis” redirects here. Bugbee is riding and raising money as a tribute to all those who suffer, have suffered and will suffer from breast cancer. All donations raised will go toward the challenge to find a cure for breast cancer.

After running cross-country and track in high school and achieving the title of All Western Massachusetts for track, Bugbee attended Berkshire Community College Berkshire Community College is a two-year community college in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It offers associate degrees as well as a transfer program for students to earn credits for transfer to other colleges.  for two years, where he ran cross-country with a perfect 16 and 0 record in dual meets. He transferred to the Univeristy of Massachusetts Amherst where he was part of the team that won The Yankee Conference The Yankee Conference was a collegiate sports conference in the eastern United States. It once sponsored competition in many sports, but eventually became a football-only league.  Championship. After graduation and over the next four decades he compiled 198 career over all wins plus approximately 100 group titles. He began competitive cycling in July 2006 and qualified for the 2008 Solo Race Across America shortly after.

Bugbee joined the Solomon Team three years ago when the company acquired a 3000 unit portfolio in the Albany, NY region and he has become an important member of the organization. "We wish Steve the best of luck and are pleased to contribute to the fight against breast cancer," says Marshall Rosen, managing director of the Solomon Organization.

The Race Across America is one of the most respected and longest running annual endurance events holding legendary stature the world over. It is one of the pinnacles of sporting accomplishment, globally seen as the highest rung of the ultra-endurance sports ladder. Since 1982, RAAM has a rich and storied history standing as a monument to human endeavors.

The route is over 3,000 miles, touching 14 states and climbing over 100,000 feet. Solo racers finish in 9 to 12 days, averaging 250 to 350 miles per day and have the challenge of balancing a few hours of sleep each night against race deadlines.
