Six Talented Amateur Acts Compete as Their Favorite

Musical Superstars to Win $25,000 in Cash;

"Your Big Break," the high-energy weekly musical talent show from Buena Vista Television, will air its second season finals competition the weekend of Feb. 24, 2001.

This season, six finalists have advanced through several levels of competition to earn their spots in the finals. They are everyday people who impersonate im·per·son·ate

In addition, "Your Big Break's" host, stage and television star Alfonso Ribeiro, will experience his own musical transformation when he sings and dances a musical medley, earning a standing ovation from the packed studio audience. chart-topper's "Angel of Mine";

-- A marketing director from Hawaii who performs as Stevie Wonder, delivering
the musical message "I Just Called to Say (I Love You)";

-- A correctional officer from Vallejo, Calif., who performs as Gladys Knight,
belting out the soulful "Midnight Train to Georgia";

-- Four friends from Grand Rapids, Mich. -- a hairstylist, a cosmetologist, a
student and a collections manager -- who perform as Boyz II Men and cover the
hit group's "So Hard to Say Goodbye";

-- A bank teller from Coral Springs, Fla., who performs as Whitney Houston and
sings the superstar's "I Will Always Love You";

-- An antique dealer from Durham, N.C., who performs as John Lennon, singing
the immortal classic "Imagine."


Hosted by Ribeiro, the show is based on the long-running European program that already is an enormous hit in 13 countries. Each week "Your Big Break" gives six talented amateur acts the opportunity to portray their favorite singers and perform one of their idol's greatest hits on stage in front of a live studio audience. While the amateur performers supply their own voices, they are supported by an amazing array of back-up singers, dancers, lights and special effects special effects, in motion pictures, cinematographic techniques that create illusions in the audience's minds as well as the illusions created using these techniques. . The studio audience votes for their favorite performer each week, advancing that person to the next level of competition.
