Budgetel Inns Enhances Computer Links; Adds Voice Mail in All Properties - Company Purchases System from MCORP -.MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 1998--Budgetel Inns, a leading national economy-lodging chain operated and franchised by The Marcus Corporation (NYSE:MCS), today announced the investment of $3 million to install voice mail A computerized telephone answering system that digitizes incoming voice messages and stores them on disk or flash memory. It usually provides auto attendant capability, which uses prerecorded messages to route the caller to the appropriate person, department or mailbox. Voice mail systems may also offer directory lookup by name. for guests and enhance its local computerized property management capabilities at all of its 156 properties. This announcement comes after The Marcus Corporation announced it is changing the name of Budgetel Inns to Baymont Inns, effective September 30. The addition of voice mail for all guests is part of the company's plan to add amenities in conjunction with the name change. The new technology will enable guests to have the convenience of voice mail, similar to what they have at their offices or their homes, including off-site message retrieval, group messaging and the ability to listen to, skip or delete messages. In addition to capturing telephone messages, the new system will allow guests to program their own wake-up calls if desired. The computerized property management system will also allow Budgetel to better capture guest information and statistics for reporting purposes.
