Budget Home Security

And when a burglary happens not only does it cause loss of possession, but the bigger cost is in emotional damages. Who did it? When will it happen again? What all did they take? Why did they do it? Memories of the after effects of a break in can last many years. But there is no reason to make your family live through that fear and worry.

People put off buying home security because they think it will take a long time to install or it will be complex. The truth is, even if you pay a professional to install a home security system that does not need to be an expensive endevor. In face, a properly implemented home security strategy can actually save you money when you consider how it can lower your home insurance premium. Companies like ADT run specials which often make complete security packages availabe for as little as $99 installed. Other providers, like GE security, offer specials with free installation and monitoring rates of less than $30 a month. Running multiple Google searches for words related to "home security" will help you find the most recent advertised deals and specials.

The average yearly home insurance premium in the United States typically costs over $800 per year. But some insurance companies offer discounts as high as 20% off for home owners who have a security system installed. Given that savings, a home security system can nearly pay for itself while keeping your family safe and giving you peace of mind.

If you are the do-it-yourself type and install your own home security system, you can enjoy further cost savings. Services like Frontpoint sell wireless home security kits that can be installed in as little as a half-hour. And some of the brands which are not as well known and heavily advertised as Brinks and ADT, like Alarm Relay, offer monthly monitoring services for as little as $8.95 a month.

If you are a renter and do not own a home you will likely need to ask your landlord before adding a security system to your home. Even if they say no you can still deter would be burglars on the cheap through the use of fake home security signs and protected by warning stickers that you place in your windows.
