BUDGE POUNTNEY has turned his back on rugby to teach babies to swim.

Former Scotland captain Pountney is launching the business with his wife Ali.

He had intended to quit as Northampton Saints director next summer but has now quit after 15 years as a player and coach with the club.

Pountney, capped 31 times, said: "Ali and I always wanted to start our own business and we are opening a franchise of Waterbabies.

"I thought an early departure from Northampton was best to ensure a quick and seamless transition for the club,

"It has been an honour to have been a part of a club with many magical memories and some proud wins, not least lifting the Heineken Cup in 2000."

In the Scottish game, Currie boss Ally Donaldson fears Melrose could prove to be a stumbling block in his Premiership side's bid for their first top-flight crown.

Donaldson said: "We beat them at our place earlier in the season but it was only our second success in five years.

"The other factor I am aware of is that Melrose seem to have developed a habit of winning every second game - and they lost last time out."

Second-top Ayr bid for a fifth win in a row over Boroughmuir.

Scotland crashed 38-0 to England in their opening match of the Dubai Sevens.
