Budding pilots to be helped by scholarship.


NORTH Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  air cadets Air Cadets could refer to:
  • Members of the Air Training Corps
  • Members of the Australian Air Force Cadets
  • Members of the RAF section of the Combined Cadet Force
  • Members of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets
 are being given a chance to take to the skies.

The budding pilots can thank Brown, Root and Marshall Aerospace (BRAMA), the civilian engineering contractor based at RAF Valley. It is expanding a private pilots' licence sponsorship scheme linked to the island's three ATC ATC Air Traffic Control

 squadrons.

Originally the firm, working alongside Mona Flying Club, backed one trainee but now each squadron can nominate.

This year's lucky trio are Jonathan French,15,of 2474 (Cefni) Squadron, Lawrence Williams of 1465 (Menai Bridge) Squadron and Jack Walsh of 2378 (Holyhead) Squadron,both 16-years-old.

The names `` were announced by Mervyn Clackett,BRAMA contracts manager when he presented a certificate of wings to last year's sponsorship recipient 18-year-old Richard Hughes, of Talwrn, near Llangefni,during the Cefni squadron's annual dinner Richard, who is hoping to become a search and rescue helicopter pilot with the RAF, said: ``The BRAMA scholarship has helped me fulfil my dream of getting a pilots' licence.''

The squadron's best female cadet award went to Rebecca Gray,15,of Llanddaniel, while Daniel Evans, also 15,of Malltraeth, scooped the awards for both best male cadet and the Sqn. Ldr.Parry -Jones Shield for best overall cadet.
