The plant has been idle since April 2001 when a worldwide shortage of cotton linters, the raw material for cotton cellulose, forced the Company to suspend production at this location. Substantial improvement in the availability and cost of cotton linters has made it possible to bring the plant back on line. The Americana plant represents about 15% of Buckeye's total cotton cellulose capacity.

Buckeye President David B. Ferraro commented, "The Americana plant is an efficient, low-cost facility. We are very pleased to have it back in operation and believe it will be a significant contributor to the Company's future profitability."
