Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger Provides $25,000 Grant to AIDS Legal Referral Panel for Law Clerk Scholarship Fund.

LOS ANGELES -- Buchalter to Be Named Law Firm of the Year by San Francisco-Based Group at October Awards Reception

The California-based law firm of Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger has awarded a $25,000 community grant to AIDS Legal Referral Panel (ALRP), a non-profit organization in San Francisco that provides free and low-cost legal assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS.

The $25,000 grant from Buchalter will fund a five-year scholarship program that will enable ALRP to recruit and pay qualified law clerks for each of the next five spring and fall semesters. In addition to helping with client matters, the Buchalter scholarship recipients will focus on a specific area of legal services through one of ALRP's programs, such as housing law, discrimination issues or wills/estate planning.

"This grant is a wonderful gift to ALRP and the clients we serve," said Bill Hirsh, executive director of ALRP. "We have a difficult time recruiting the law clerks we need so critically in the fall and spring semesters, and this generous grant from Buchalter will ensure our ability to recruit quality law clerks for years to come."

In appreciation of Buchalter's support of ALRP's mission and the firm's generosity in funding the ALRP law clerk program, ALRP has named Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger its "Law Firm of the Year" for 2004. The award will be presented to Buchalter at ALRP's 21st Annual Reception on October 6, 2004, at the War Memorial Veterans Building in San Francisco.
