Bryant has been named president and chief executive officer of Hallsmith-Sysco Food Services food services Hospital services A 24/7 department in a hospital that provides for the nutritional needs of inpatients–eg, those needing special diets, preparing meals and transporting them to the floor and, through the cafeteria, the hospital staff and , a SYSCO subsidiary located in Norton (Boston), Mass. Mr. Bryant, who is currently executive vice president of that company, will assume his new responsibilities effective Jan. 1, 2003.

 foodservice operations, said Mr. Bryant, 54, joined Hallsmith-Sysco in 1984 as a seafood marketing specialist and advanced to manager of the seafood department in 1986. The following year he was named director of marketing, progressed to vice president of marketing in 1990, and in 1996 was promoted to senior vice president of marketing. Mr. Bryant was named to his current position in 1997. He served as chairman of the New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  Wholesale Food Distributors Association from June 1993 to June 1995 and prior to joining SYSCO he held various sales positions within the food industry for 11 years.

Mr. Bryant was born in Lake Placid, N.Y., and earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1970 from State University College of Education in New Paltz, N.Y. He and his wife Deborah are parents of an adult daughter and reside in North Easton, Mass.
