Brute force: the Lollini shear on the job at EKCO metals is powerful and reliable.

Ely Keenberg and Dave Cobb of EKCO Metals in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , like most scrap recyclers, try to make each day as productive as possible. 505 Lollini shear/baler/ logger, EKCO has been processing its scrap far more productively since 1998.

Dave, the maintenance supervisor at EKCO, says the shear shear: see strength of materials.

or any kind of nonferrous we need to process, and it is a very productive machine for us."

Depending on what is being processed, the Lollini ALC505 can work its way through from 8 to 15 tons per hour of material. "It's the workhorse work·horse

EKCO's managers have been pleased with the ease of maintenance and long wear life provided by the ALC505's articulating wing. "I have not changed any of the side panels yet, even after seven years," says Dave. After 14,000 operating hours, Dave says the Lollini is still operating on its original Rexroth pumps and is still producing at the same high rates as when it was new.

The ALC505 is also easy to use, Dave notes, with understandable controls that allow the operator to determine the cut length and density setting and then "push a button and go."

The Lollini ALC505 has been a key part in EKCO's growing volume of business conducted this decade. "I would recommend this machine to anyone who's interested," Dave remarks. "It's been very productive for us and has helped our ferrous scrap grow to where it is a significant part of our business. Prior to acquiring the Lollini, EKCO depended primarily on nonferrous material to sustain the company."
