Brushless AC motor drive introduced by Baldor.Baldor has extended the versatility of its low-cost brushless AC servo drive, MicroFlex, with the addition of configurable anti-resonance filters. The software upgrade allows machine builders to implement filters to combat mechanical problems using the drive's DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive (digital signal processor A digital signal processor (DSP) is a specialized microprocessor designed specifically for digital signal processing, generally in real-time computing. A new configuration tool for MicroFlex single-axis drives allows users to set up application-specific notch or low pass filtering. The new software is a major complement to Baldor's MicroFlex range, because these new drives are specifically designed to help users realise higher machine throughputs. They incorporate advanced features to help users improve motor control and smoothness of motion, including space vector modulation (SVM SVM Support Vector Machines SVM School of Veterinary Medicine SVM Solaris Volume Manager SVM Space Vector Modulation SVM Storage Virtualization Manager (StoreAge) SVM Service Module (also abbreviated as S/M) ), and high resolution synchronous serial interface (SSI) and incremental encoder feedback interfaces. By controlling the IGBT IGBT Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor IGBT Integrated Gate Bipolar Transistor power devices using SVM instead of the more usual carrier based pulse width modulation See PWM. (PWM), users can run servo motors at typically 15% higher speeds with reduced switching losses and harmonics, which can translate directly into greater machine throughput. MicroFlex brushless AC servo drives are available in three power ratings of 3, 6 and 9A, with 200% peak current capability. Contact Baldor UK on tel: 01454 850(K)0 or visit: www.baldor.com |
