"Designing a web page for Brush Wellman was not simply a technology exercise," said Brush Wellman's Director of Management Information Systems, David McNally. "We didn't create our site just to be like everyone else. The site is user driven; it's a customer service project. We're using it as an opportunity to differentiate Brush Wellman from competitors." The web site will be unveiled in a series of waves. The first wave will include general information about Brush Wellman, such as the annual report, quarterly results, environmental updates and similar information. The second wave will be focused on delivering material properties information to customers. That information may include case studies on how customers solved various problems by using Brush Wellman materials. Customers will be able to use this information to determine the appropriate materials for various applications. The second wave of information should be available by the end of the first quarter. "We are linking our web site to the sites of many professional organizations, government agencies and industrial organizations," McNally said. "Eventually, we'd like to have an area on the site where design engineers can work through their design processes and choose the best materials for their applications."
