Brush Engineered Materials WAM Unit to Acquire Certain Assets of Semi Alloys Company.

BUFFALO, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2001

Williams Advanced Materials Inc. (WAM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brush Engineered Materials Inc., announced today that it has completed an agreement to purchase certain assets of Semi Alloys Company of Mount Vernon, New York related to the production of COMBO-LIDS(R). These materials are used for hermetically sealing microelectronic packages used primarily in computer, microwave and opto-electronic applications.

The purchase will include certain assets presently located in Mount Vernon, as well as assembly operations in Subic Bay, Philippines. Terms were not disclosed.

Semi Alloys announced late in April that it would be exiting the COMBO-LID(R) business.
