Mining and Development Company, Inc. (NASDAQ:BCMD) today announced that production from the lower Brush Creek Mine would reach sixty tons per day during the week of September 22, 1997.

James S. Chapin, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and Chairman of the Board, stated, "We had previously thought we would be producing fifty tons of ore by today. We are currently producing twenty tons per day. However, with the progress we are now making, we will soon be in our first large pillar.

Developing two headings in that pillar will allow us to get to sixty tons per day." Arthur Smith, Brush Creek's Mine Geologist, stated, "As we head up through Ore Block No. 3 toward Pillar No. 4 in the lower Brush Creek Mine, I've observed more gold in the ore. The gold is coarser and is accompanied by galena galena (gəlē`nə) or lead glance, lustrous, blue-gray mineral crystallizing usually in cubes, sometimes in octahedrons. It is the most important ore and the principal source of lead.  and arseno pyrite pyrite (pī`rīt) or iron pyrites (pīrī`tēz, pə–, pī`rīts), pale brass-yellow mineral, the bisulfide of iron, FeS2.  which are excellent indicator minerals in the district. We expect the trend will continue and that the pillars will produce high grade ore."

The Company also stated that it will continue to attempt to secure joint-venture agreements with a number of groups which are evaluating the Company's hard rock gold, placer gold and potential diamond properties.

Brush Creek controls nine gold mines in the Alleghany/Downieville area of Northern California.
