Who doesn't like brunch?

I know a lot of you do because I've answered a zillion questions from readers about where to go for Sunday brunch. Well, maybe I exaggerated the numbers a little, but it seems like a zillion to me.

Here's a deal for brunch lovers. The annual Gourmet Sunday Brunch to benefit Camp Putnam Inc. in New Braintree will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 22 at Coral Seafood, 225 Shrewsbury St., Worcester.

Ante up $25 per person and you're in. Call (508) 867-6895 to reserve. Proceeds benefit the camp, which is in its 62nd season. More than 600 children, ages 6 to 15, many of them from Central Massachusetts, attend summer programs there. No child is turned away, according to according to
prep.

 a camp spokesperson. The camp also has an advanced program that runs the entire summer and once a month during the off-season.

Participating restaurants at brunch: Coral Seafood, The Webster House restaurant, Willows at Worcester, Creating A Stir catering, Struck Catering and Blue Cricket Catering, all in Worcester, and Sonoma in Princeton, Barre Mills Restaurant in Barre, Rovezzi's Ristorante in Sturbridge and Reed's Country Restaurant in New Braintree.

The bar at Coral Seafood will be open just in case you want to celebrate with a mimosa or bloody Mary.

Peppercorn's Grille and Bar, 455 Park Ave., Worcester, will run a weekly "recession fighter" special Monday through Thursday, beginning next week. Diners get to choose two entrees from a special menu, plus a bottle of wine, for $39.

And you know you can count on leftovers.

Initial Advantage Inc., a nonprofit entrepreneurial organization at Clark University Clark University, at Worcester, Mass.; coeducational; chartered 1887, opened as a graduate school 1889. It was the second graduate school to be formed in the United States. Its undergraduate college (est. 1902) was integrated with the university in 1920.  in Worcester will host its annual Clark Food Fest: Cook for Hunger cooking competition from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the university.

The group's mission is to help alleviate hunger in the Worcester area with the help of Clark University's students and local restaurants, according to Clark senior Amanda Pearlstein. The event is modeled after the Food Channel's "Iron Chef For the American version of this show, see Iron Chef America.

Local Worcester participants include executive chef Sean McCabe and master sushi chef Ko Lin of Zipango Sushi Bar Noun 1. sushi bar - a bar where sushi is served

 and Grille, master chefs Wilson Wang and Mike Zhang of BABA Sushi, executive chef George Sakhat of El Basha Restaurant, Mark Grasseschi, executive chef at Radius Healthcare Center and executive chef Ian Hickey.

The chefs will prepare dishes using the same pantry items and two "secret" ingredients provided by Denis Denis, king of Portugal: see Diniz.  Gagne, the executive chef at Clark University.

Clark students will sample dishes and rate them based on originality, taste and presentation. The chef or chefs with the highest score will be presented a plaque on Tuesday.

A Grand Opening Wine Tasting celebration will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at StoneyHill Wine & Liquors, 424 Hartford Turnpike, Shrewsbury.

Michelle Bohigian of Sweets by Michelle will bring desserts to sample. New store, plus great treats. You can't go wrong.

John Piccolo piccolo, small transverse flute pitched an octave higher than the standard flute. Its tone is bright and shrill, and it can produce the highest notes in the orchestral range. The piccolo is used in orchestras and especially in military bands. See fife. , chef/owner of Piccolo's, 157 Shrewsbury St., Worcester, has re-introduced a customer favorite, Crispy Sicilian Eggplant.

The dish dropped out of sight when Piccolo couldn't find Sicilian eggplant. He recently got in a supply.

Good news for regulars who enjoy the meal.
