"I have a good relationship with the Sedgmen family and at Swindon we looked at both Justin and his brother,'' said Patchett. "I watched Justin's progress closely with Somerset, we sponsored him and made it possible for him to make his debut in British racing and I'm delighted to have him on board at Birmingham. "He has natural ability on the bike and when I recommended the lad to Graham Drury (manager) he was happy to go along with it. "And the Australian influence won't stop there. I feel Justin can learn a lot from Steve Johnston once again after riding with him at Somerset last season and, of course, Birmingham's magnificent captain Jason Lyons. "We're delighted with the way team building is progressing and we feel we are in a great position to go forward and be one of the top teams in the league."
