BIRMINGHAM complete their busy run of three meetings in four days at Loomer Road tonight looking to complete a quickfire double over rivals Stoke.

The Brummies were beaten by 14 points at Sheffield on Thursday, denting their bid to go top of the Premier League table.

But they demolished the Potters 58-34 in the reverse fixture at Perry Barr on Wednesday.

If they are to gain a positive outcome tonight they will need that kind of all-round performance rather than the one at Owlerton where Manuel Hauzinger and Ludvig Lindgren, surprisingly, failed to score.

Brummies boss Graham Drury said: "Sheffield is a difficult place to go but it was a disappointing performance from some of the riders, and it does bring us down to earth somewhat.

"Having said that, we've had an excellent run and we can go to Stoke confident in our ability to get at least one point, if not three.

"We're fortunate to still have Richard Sweetman at reserve for the rest of July and we've got plenty more important matches this month.

"I thought our home match against Stoke on Wednesday showed everything good about the sport, it was a great performance, a well-presented meeting and an absolutely terrific crowd."

Tonight's clash features a second Brummies debut for new signing Jay Herne, who comes in at reserve alongside Sweetman.

And Herne appears to be in form having won all five of the races he completed in his National League Knock-out Cup fixture for Bournemouth on Thursday.
