CRICKET fans were pouring into Edgbaston today as Birmingham basked in the Ashes spotlight.

 by the start of the Third Test being delayed by the weather, fans of both England and Australia expressed confidence they would be celebrating come the scheduled end of the match on Monday.

Birmingham city centre also adopted a cricketing theme with the famous iron man statue decked out in whites. "It's always been a good spectacle between the two countries so we're both look-inforward to today." England fan James Buttley, from Kent, said: "I said from the start we'd win the series 2-1 and I'm still confident about that.

"The game is more than just about cricket though and we'll be having a drop of the local ale and I'm sure we'll get involved with a bit of banter with the Aussies."

Tim Wallington, from Sydney, who came dressed in a punk rocker wig, said: "It's gonna be over by lunch and we'll level it at 1-1. "We're gonna be out drinking pints and we'll be basking in the glory. There's no doubt it will be an Australia win all the way."
