BIRMINGHAM City University Birmingham City University (formerly Birmingham Polytechnic and the University of Central England in Birmingham) is a University in the city of Birmingham, England.

The main university campus is located in Perry Barr, Birmingham.
 has been recognised as the best in the country at recruiting new students.

A panel from the Times Higher Education Awards decided the university's TV campaign had been the most effective in 2008.

Comedian Rory Bremner presented them with the award at a ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel, on Park Lane, London.

The recruitment drive saw a ten per cent increase in numbers attending its clearing open days, and almost 800 more full-time undergraduate students were accepted.

The university's director of marketing, Kathryn Jones, said: "Using television as a vehicle provided an opportunity to promote our unique offering in the Arts at Birmingham School of Acting Birmingham School of Acting is a United Kingdom drama school, located in Birmingham, formerly known as Birmingham School of Speech & Drama.

Two higher education courses exist with a range of part time, summer schools and short courses for adults and children.

Tricial Wombell, director of marketing and communications at the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education and one of the judges, said: "Birmingham City University set clear budgets, clear targets and devised a striking advertising campaign that proved excellent value for money."
