Brum races to Pole position! TRAVEL: Speedway fans boost new Warsaw flights.

BIRMINGHAM International Airport has welcomed the inaugural service between Warsaw and Birmingham.

Richard Dooner, operations manager at Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, said: "This new route to the capital of Poland will provide Birmingham and wider Midland business communities with an array of trade and investment opportunities.

"Leisure passengers can take advantage of Warsaw's culture, art and history, while motorsport fanatics can enjoy the thrill of speedway - Poland's most popular sport.

On hand for the launch of Norwegian's service was Chris "Bomber" Harris, a British international speedway rider for Coventry Bees and Polish team RKM Rybnik.

Harris said: "Speedway is a huge sport in Poland and becoming increasingly popular here too, so this new route is fantastic for racers and spectators alike."

John Morris, head of corporate affairs for Birmingham International Airport, said: "We are pleased to have this new route connecting Birmingham and Warsaw and are confident it will be popular with the business community, leisure visitors and, of course, speedway fanatics."
