Club is jumping for joy after celebrating the proudest day in its short history.

After eight successive years of the British Trampoline Championships being staged at Birmingham's NIA, the host city finally proved that they were worthy of a slice of the success on July 19.

Lydia Yates, aged 14 and from Redditch, was crowned the Junior British Champion while 14-year-old Daniel Berridge, from Moseley, proudly walked away with a bronze medal from the junior boys event.

Meanwhile Sandwell's Corin Clarke, aged nine and the youngest out of all of the 755 competitors, finished equal first in the youth category before eventually being handed silver on a tie breaking rule.

There were also fine finishes for two more City of Birmingham members. Bournville's Phoebe Williams, who turns 13 this week, finished fourth in the junior girls event while 11-year-old Jacob Hudson, from Moseley, also claimed fourth in the boys category.

The results completed an impressive haul for the City of Birmingham Trampoline Club, which was only formed in 2005 following the merger of several smaller outfits from across the local area. And head coach Wayne Smith The name Wayne Smith refers to a number of people:

, who helped form the club alongside his mother Pam, is beaming with pride. "It was absolutely fantastic. This was the first time that the club has been competitive at the event and we rose to the occasion," said Wayne, who is also the national trampoline competition secretary for British Gymnastics.

"It was certainly the proudest day in the club's history so far and, after this year's success, we are looking to push on. "It all started from three or four different clubs in the Birmingham area who were pulling in different directions. We realised that it would be better if they were pulling together so we got our act together and now we are over the moon." There was further recognition for a trio of Birmingham's star performers from the event at theNIA. Lydia, Phoebe and Daniel have all been selected in the England squad that heads to Portugal in September for an international event. But the action doesn't stop there for Lydia as her gold-winning exploits has also seen her called up to the British team that is bound for Saint Petersburg Saint Petersburg, city, United States
