Bruker Daltonics Announces Two Application Notes Demonstrating Its Leading Mass Spectrometry Performance in the 2006 ABRF Proteomics Studies.

SEATTLE -- At the 2006 ASMS conference, Bruker Daltonics today announces two new application notes on the results of this year's Assocation of Biomolecular Research Facilities' (ABRF ABRF - Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities) proteomics studies. In the Protein Standards Research Group (sPRG) identification study, as well as in the Proteomics Research Group (PRG) quantification study, information obtained with solutions and instrumentation from Bruker Daltonics has achieved the top scores.

In the quantification study, the results submitted by Bruker Daltonics (code 27960v) produced the highest result among the commercially available isotopic labeling technologies. All mass spectra were obtained on a Bruker Daltonics ultraflex(TM) II MALDI-TOF MALDI-TOF (Top Of Form) The beginning of a physical paper form. To position paper in many printers, the printer is turned offline, the forms are aligned properly and the TOF button is pressed. - Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization - Time of Flight/TOF mass spectrometer, using the ICPL ICPL - Integrated Circuit Procedural Language (HP)
ICPL - Isotope-Coded Protein Label
duplex quantitation kit available from Bruker Daltonics, and were analyzed using the Company's WARP(TM)-LC quantification software. All methods and results are described in detail in Bruker Daltonics' new application note MT-83 (available for down-load at www.bdal.com), and on the ABRF website: www.abrf.org/index.cfm/group.show/Proteomics.34.htm

In the sPRG identification study, data from the Bruker Daltonics HCTultra(TM) ion trap (code 77708v) and ultraflex II (code 27960v) were analyzed. The HCTultra was the highest performing instrument in this study (100 % accuracy, 98 % specificity) and the ultraflex II ranked 8th among 74 participants turning in results. Both instruments provided an average number of peptides/protein of 11.5 and 11, which are the best results among all participating vendors. These results are described in detail in Bruker Daltonics' application note LCMS-50 (available for down-load at www.bdal.com), and at www.abrf.org/index.cfm/group.show/ProteomicsStandards ResearchGroup.47.htm (Due to its length, this URL may need to be copied/pasted into your Internet browser's address field. Dr. Carsten Baessmann, Head of ESI Applications Development at Bruker Daltonics, said: "We are quite proud to report the results of the sPRG study which confirms again that our HCTultra high-capacity ion trap is indeed the performance leader in nanoLC/MS/MS for proteomics."

Dr. Arnd Ingendoh, Assistant Vice President for Proteomics at Bruker Daltonics, added: "Our proteomics customers are particularly excited about our novel WARP-LC 1.1 quantification software which, together with ICPL, is very successful in protein quantification. The LC-MALDI approach using our ultraflex II TOF/TOF has again proven its top performance, when combined with these innovative isotope labeling and analysis tools."

ASMS 2006, the 54th American Society for Mass Spectrometry Conference will be held May 28 - June 1, 2006 in Seattle, Washington in the Washington State Convention & Trade Center.
