Growth was driven by strong sales of life sciences and materials research x-ray diffraction systems and strong aftermarket sales, partially offset by reduced sales of x-ray fluorescence elemental composition systems. Due to limited visibility, the company did not provide second quarter guidance. The company remains cautious about the remaining months of 2005 due to a slowdown reported by competing companies, but reiterated its year-end revenue guidance of 10%-12% sales growth and a 3%-5% increase in operating income. Bruker BioSciences stated it does not plan any additional cost cutting measures this year.
