Bruised man sentenced over stun gun.


A DEFENDANT who appeared in the dock at Cardiff Crown Court Cardiff Crown Court is a historic building situated in Cardiff's Civic Centre, Cathays Park.  with a battered and bruised face after a fall on a broken pavement was given a suspended jail sentence jail sentence jail npeine f de prison  for having a stun gun.

Martin Clayton, 38, of Ninian Park Road, Cardiff, was late arriving at the court because of his injuries.

The Recorder of Cardiff, Nicholas Cooke QC, was told he had suffered a facial fracture facial fracture See LeFort classification.  after falling over a pavement and a protruding drain.

Following a short hearing, the judge gave him a 26-week term suspended for two years.

Clayton had previously admitted being in possession of a prohibited weapon when police were called to the Brynna Arms in Pontyclun on April 10.

Prosecutor Karl Williams said the stun gun had been described at the time as having "ultra high voltage".

However, the Recorder said there was no expert evidence available to say just how dangerous it might have been.

Elizabeth Pearson, defending, said Clayton was on incapacity benefit and his partner was expecting a child. He was said to have a long record of previous offences including an involvement with drugs some years ago.

The judge told him: "You have spent years in prison on occasions.

"This was a very foolish act - these things are dangerous and it is illegal to have them."
