Bruce Technologies wins $7-million order from Power Semiconductor Supplier International Rectifier Corp.; Bruce becomes exclusive provider of horizontal furnaces to International Rectifier and reinforces market leader status.


NORTH BILLERICA, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 1996--Bruce Technologies International, a leading provider of advanced furnaces and process control software to semiconductor manufacturers, announced today that it has won a $7-million order from International Rectifier International Rectifier Corp. (NYSE: IRF) is a manufacturer of power semiconductors (MOSFET, IGBT, diodes and thyristors), located in El Segundo, California, USA. It has a market capitalization of 2.48 billion USD and is listed on the S&P Midcap 400.  Corp. (IR). Installation of Bruce's BDF-41 horizontal furnaces and APEX process control software was recently completed at IR's Temecula, CA, fab. International Rectifier is a leading global supplier of power semiconductors.

Bruce Technologies' President Bob McAuliffe noted that Bruce now has approximately 50% worldwide market share for horizontal furnaces for semiconductor manufacturers. "Bruce Technologies is proud to have been selected for the expansion of IR's Temecula fab," said McAuliffe. "We have a long history with this company. Bruce has beat out the competition at every turn, making us the exclusive supplier of horizontal furnaces to International Rectifier."

International Rectifier will use Bruce's BDF-41 furnaces to produce power semiconductors, including HEXFET HEXFET Hexagonal Field Effect Transistor . power MOSFETS A Power MOSFET is a specific type of Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET) designed to handle large powers. Compared to the other power semiconductor devices (IGBT, Thyristor... , IGBTs, control ICs, diodes, rectifiers, thyristors, power conversion solutions, and standard and custom power modules on 150mm wafers.
