Dr. Seidel stated, "This new center will help meet the needs of the state's patients requiring this highly specialized care. We utilize cutting-edge technology to preserve both limb and function while avoiding amputation amputation (ăm'pyətā`shən), removal of all or part of a limb or other body part. Although amputation has been practiced for centuries, the development of sophisticated techniques for treatment and prevention of infection has greatly  in many cases. Our unique surgical expertise also allows us to treat non-oncologic patients requiring joint replacement as well as those with acute or late complex fracture care needs."
