The 55-year-old movie hard-man announced plans for Die Hard 4 in Cannes yesterday.

Yesterday, Willis said: "I've got a little bit of good news. We're as close as we've ever got to getting Die Hard 4 started.

"It won't be called Die Hard 4 but that will be the story. Hopefully it will be out next summer."

The original plot had Willis's character JohnMcClane and his daughter involved in a terror plot while on a holiday in the Gulf Coast.

An enormous explosion would have sent huge waves into New Orleans.

Die Hard first hit the big screen in 1988. The third movie, Die Hard: With A Vengeance, was released in 1995.

Willis was yesterday helping Czech-born supermodel Petra Nemcova, 26, launch a project for her children's charity.

The 6ft beauty set it up after her fiance, British fashion photographer Simon Atlee, 33, was killed in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.

The model announced plans for her Big Red Book, in which celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, James Blunt, Sophie Dahl, Rachel Hunter and Willis will wear nothing but red to raise money for charity.
